Leonard has 34 years experience teaching agriculture and he applies his knowledge and skills to his farm. He and his wife, Kay, operate Valley Flowers, where they focus on two fall favorites, mums and sweet Georgia grapes.
Over 750 individual mum plants are grown each year in many different varieties and colors. Of course, yellow and white are popular but Leonard also grows variegated mums in surprising and beautiful combinations.
Along with all the flowers the Brogdon's grow six long rows of Georgia grapes. The vine supports are covered with luxurious muscadine and scuppernong leaves dotted with the purple and distinctive green of grapes.
The property is located on Prior Station Road and has a unique history of its own dating back to the Civil War. With mums and grapes being the primary crops, Leonard and Kay join the Rockmart Farmer's Market in the fall and they are not to be missed!
